According to the American Counseling Association, counseling is "a collaborative effort between the counselor and client."  They further explain, "Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and optimal mental health."  

At Purposeful Practices, we will work on strategies to overcome obstacles and personal challenges in your life.  This may involve incorporating other practices, such as yoga and meditation, or if that's not your cup of tea, counseling can take place without the use of these tools.  Deciding how best to meet your needs in therapy will be part of our process in working together.

The length and timing of counseling depends upon your needs and preferences.  Counseling is a personalized process, unique to each individual.  I invite you to come explore this process with me!
